You are the “Curious Collector Plant Parent"!

For the CCPP, plants are like Pokemon, you gotta catch em all! Caring for plants is an opportunity for you to become a student again, learning about special varieties of common plants and interesting growing techniques. You always have your eyes peeled for your next plant obsession of the moment.

You’re constantly looking for ways to become a better plant parent: experimenting with different growing mediums, pots, watering techniques and families of plants to see which thrive best in your care. Your plant collection is the envy of all of your plant friends, well done :)

You’re amazing at:

Cultivating curiosity

Trying new things without fear

Researching & continuing to grow your plant knowledge

You likely struggle with:

Overwhelm: because you dive head first into the deep end of every plant adventure you take, you might struggle with growing your plant collection at a sustainable rate.

Tip: when you start to feel the overwhelm - do a plant audit and take a plant pause.

Check out this full episode I recently did on my plant audit at the end of 2023 (spoiler alert, I killed a lot of plants)

Pest Control: With a large plant collection comes a large responsibility. Pest outbreaks are just part of the process, so be prepared with a DIY Planty first aid kit, so you are armed with what you need to keep your precious plants out of pesky trouble.

And now what you’ve been waiting for!

The Curious Collector List of Dream Plants!

You live for the rare plant, the unique foliage, and the “sport” found in the clearance section of a garden center. I highly suggest choosing one or two genera and going DEEP, collecting as many species of one genus as possible and marveling at the variety. Or just focus on all the weird, whacky plants you can find!

General Plant Names to look for:

Choose any of the following Genus and do your deep dive: Alocasia, Anthurium, Cacti, Ficus, Hoya, Lithops, Orchids, Philodendron (over 400 varieties to collect), Peperomia, Snake Plants, Succulents. But here are some of my specific favorites:

How this list works:

Plants are broken down based on lighting requirements, and then size.I’ve given you both common and scientific names to help you ID them at your local plant shops. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! The pink plants are usually easier to find.
